Country Cobbler owner Cason Williams said the official closing date will depend on how quickly the store sells its inventory. Williams estimated the store may close in August.

“Everything in the store will be on sale,” said Elizabeth Wisenbaker of Country Cobbler.

Country Cobbler is a specialty shoe store which sells shoes for men and women as well as accessories, including handbags, jewelry and clothing and brands such as Southern Strut.

Cason Williams’ father, E.L. “Boe” Williams, opened the store in 1964. The store began in Downtown Valdosta, then expanded to a second location at the Five Points shopping center, before the two stores combined into the current 1737 Gornto Road location.

Country Cobbler was voted best shoe store in The Valdosta Daily Times Best of South Georgia contest for 2017, an award the store has won on several occasions in years past.

Country Cobbler will hold special hours for the week of June 14, 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 14; 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, June 15-17; 1-6 p.m. Sunday, June 18. Afterward, Country Cobbler will resume normal hours, Cason said.

Normal store hours are 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday-Saturday; 1-6 p.m. Sunday. Country Cobbler is located at 1737 Gornto Road and can be contacted by phone, (229) 242-1430.
