DALTON, Ga. — The Murray County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 39-year-old Gilmer County man for sending “sexually explicit” messages to a girl under the age of 14.

Charlie Randall Sexton II, of 299 Nature Trail in Ellijay, was charged Monday with enticing a child for indecent purposes and use of computer service to seduce, lure or entice a child to commit an illegal act. Both charges are felonies. Computer service would include text messages sent by cellphone, said Chief Deputy Brian Ingle.

Ingle said Sexton was being held at the Murray County jail awaiting a bond hearing Tuesday afternoon.

“Basically, Mr. Sexton had communication through text and voice with a child under the age of 14,” Ingle said. “Some of what was said was of a very sexually explicit nature. The juvenile passed it along to a parent and the parent reported it.”
