VALDOSTA — The Lowndes-Valdosta Tourism Authority approved its lodging tax budget for Fiscal Year 2017-18.

Lowndes County gives the Tourism Authority proceeds from its lodging tax, which it expects to bring in about $188,000 for the fiscal year, according to information presented during its meeting this week.

The authority received four bids from the Georgia Professional Educators Association — two in 2017, two in 2018 — for use of the James H. Rainwater Conference Center, said Tim Riddle, conference center general manager. The bids are expected to bring in about $30,000 to the conference center.

The authority went into executive session for one hour and two minutes to discuss personnel. After the session, the authority took no action.

The Valdosta-Lowndes County Tourism Authority will hold a special called meeting at 4 p.m. Thursday at Rainwater Conference Center in the Tulip meeting room.
