LIVE OAK — A 41-year-old woman was charged with two counts of child neglect.
According to the Live Oak Police Department, they received a call regarding two children found in a car left unattended on Hillman Avenue for approximately 20 minutes on Saturday.
The report stated that shortly after the arrival of LOPD, Brandy Faye Shiver, of Draso, Arkansas, arrived on the scene with another woman and started screaming “give me my babies.”
The woman told LOPD, they had been looking for the children for a while and only came to Hillman Avenue because she asked some people at a car wash where the nearest “crack house” was.
According to the report, Shiver stated she was hanging out and drinking when she asked a woman she knew only as “Sarah” to take her children.
The report stated that Shiver then left the area with two unknown black males and rode around drinking. She said they went to Burger King, McDonald’s and Walmart.
According to the report, Shiver did not know where her children were during that time and she had no contact information for “Sarah” and the two men she was with.
The report stated “Sarah” apparently drove around with the children and then abandoned the vehicle and the children on Hillman Avenue.
According to LOPD, the vehicle in which the children were found had a strong odor of cannabis.
LOPD reported a small burned piece of a cannabis cigarette was found in the vehicle.
Shiver was charged with two counts of child neglect and has an open warrant from Leon County for VOP/DWLSR.
