The stars lined up just right for both the 10U and 13U Georgia Batmen teams to come away with tournament titles in the Atlanta Braves’ Youth Baseball Classic held in Alpharetta from July 14-16.

The Classic, hosted and put on by the Braves’ organization, featured more than 70 teams from six different states. Players were also guests at last Saturday’s Braves game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Despite all the hoopla surrounding all of the other activities, the biggest highlights still came on the youth fields, where the Batmen teams played some tremendous baseball.

The 10U Batmen opened pool play with an 18-2 win against the Butts County Warriors followed by a 7-1 victory against Team Mayhem from Gadsden, Ala.

In elimination play, the 10U Batmen ran thru a gauntlet of major-level teams with come from behind 6-5 win against the LA Stixx (Rincon), another come from behind win, 10-3 against Team Schutt (Birmingham, Ala.), and 8-3 against the Gresham Park Yard Dogs (Atlanta) in the championship to finish off their fourth consecutive tournament title to close this season.
