BARC to host annual ball

VALDOSTA — BARC Humane Society, a Lowndes County/Brooks County animal rescue, will host its Fourth Annual BARC Ball.

It is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, in the Valdosta State University Ballroom, according to an organizational press release.

The evening will include dinner, live music by the group TannersLane, silent auctions and a reverse drawing for a chance to win $2,500, $1,500 or $1,000, according to organizers.

Tickets cost $50 per person and can be purchased online at www.eventbrite.com or from BARC during PetSmart adoption events Saturdays.

Participants do not have to be present for tickets to be entered into the reverse drawing so purchases just for the drawing alone are encouraged to support the animals, according to organizers.

BARC depends on the generosity of companies and individuals to fund its animal rescue activities. Sponsorships and donations for the BARC Ball are currently being sought to enable BARC to rescue unwanted, abandoned, lost and homeless animals.

Three levels of sponsorship include silver, gold and platinum are available which include varying numbers of tickets to the event, reverse drawing entries and advertising on the event poster, program and Facebook page.

Monetary and material contributions are tax-deductible and animal-advocate contributors will gain exposure on the BARC Ball Facebook event page that has more than 9,400 followers, according to the press release.

“Our mission is to provide unwanted, abandoned, lost, and homeless dogs and cats with the basic needs they deserve – medical attention, nutrition, social interaction, development, and loving care,” BARC President Charles DeVane said.
