LHS Off-Broadway ready for season

VALDOSTA – Lowndes High School Off-Broadway is preparing to be on stage again this season.
The student theatre troupe has several shows scheduled for the 2017-18 season, said Lawson Cribb, LHS Off-Broadway publicity manager.

– The season opens with “Chamber Music.” “This is our show that we are performing at the Georgia Theatre Conference in Carollton, Ga.,” Cribb said. The show is scheduled to play for public performances 7 p.m., Sept. 28-30.
– “Anything Goes.” A 55-minute adaptation of the famed Cole Porter musical. It is scheduled to be the LHS entry for the Georgia High School Association one-act play competition. Public performance dates are scheduled for 7 p.m., Oct. 26-28.
– “A Christmas Carol.” The beloved Charles Dickens Christmas tale is scheduled as the intermediate drama class play. Run dates: 7 p.m., Dec. 8, 9.
– “The Scarlet Pimpernel.” A musical adaptation of Baroness Orczy’s novel of a masked man set during the Reign of Terror during the French Revolution. “This is our competition musical for the Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards (the Shuler Awards),” Cribb said. Run dates: 7 p.m., Jan. 18-20, 25-27.
– “Much Ado About Nothing.” The comedy is the annual production of a William Shakespeare play. Run dates: 7 p.m., March 22-24.
– “Senior Showcase.” End-of-the-year show featuring graduating seniors. Run date: 7 p.m., May 11.
