Wildcats still scheduled to play Friday evening

VALDOSTA — The following updates have been released regarding Valdosta City Schools’ athletic events over the next few days.

The Valdosta High Wildcats will host the Tift County Blue Devils 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, at Bazemore Hyder Stadium, according to a statement released Friday by the city school system.

Military Appreciation Night is on the schedule; all military personnel should enter through the visitor’s gate at the corner of Slater and Brookwood with a current military ID, according to the city schools press release.

The cross-country team will travel to Leesburg Saturday, Sept. 9, for the Lee County Invitational. The meet will begin 8:30 a.m. on the campus of Kinchafoonee Primary School.

The varsity softball games for Monday, Sept. 11, and Wednesday, Sept. 13, have been canceled.

The Monday game versus Berrien has been rescheduled for 5:30 p.m., Sept. 26. The game will be Senior Night with senior presentations starting at 5 p.m.

There are no plans to reschedule the Cook County game, according to the school system.

The middle school softball games scheduled for Monday, Sept. 11, and Tuesday, Sept. 12, have been canceled. Make-up dates are still pending.

The varsity volleyball games scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 12, at Tift County has been canceled. The make-up date for this game has been set for 5 p.m., Sept. 25, in Tifton.

The middle school volleyball game scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 12, versus Georgia Christian has been canceled. The make-up date for this game is pending.

The VHS varsity softball doubleheader scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 9, against Northside Warner Robins has been canceled.  These games will be rescheduled at a later date.
