Movie in the Park returns

VALDOSTA — Bring a blanket and the family for a free movie in the park.

The Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks & Recreation Authority will show “Facing the Giants,” 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30.

The football movie is rated PG, according to a Parks & Rec press release.

This is VLPRA’s first movie of the fall/winter season. The authority shows all movies on its inflatable screen, which is 20 feet wide and 11 feet tall, according to park officials.

There is no fee to watch the film and no registration necessary. VLPRA encourages families to attend and to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. Picnics are welcome and VLPRA will sell limited concessions on a cash-only basis.

VLPRA will host its second film of the season in October in a collaboration with the Hahira Merchants Association. The authority will premiere “Monsters, Inc.,” Oct. 21, at North Lowndes Park in Hahira. 

Other movies scheduled this fall and winter are “Moana” (rated PG), Nov. 10, Freedom Park; “The Santa Clause” (rated PG), Dec. 19, Drexel Park; “The Grinch” (rated PG), Dec. 21, J.W. Saunders Park; “Beauty and the Beast” (rated PG), Feb. 23, Drexel Park, according to the press release.
