The Lafayette volleyball team participated in a Pink Out game against Suwannee on Friday.

MAYO — Playing in front of the student body crowd, the Lafayette High School volleyball team defeated Suwannee on Friday in its annual Pink Out game.

Lafayette cruised to a 3-1 (25-7, 25-10, 21-25, 25-14) win for the in-school game.

“I felt like they were really working together,” said Hornets coach Kelsey Land, whose team improved to 11-6 on the season. “Giving our bodies up. Not letting balls drop. I saw a lot of that.”

Haley Ellefson’s 19 kills were a match-high. Sarah Hamlin picked up eight kills for the Hornets, who led the entire way for Sets 1, 2, and 4.

Missing some key players, including setter Kailey Greene who was attending homecoming activities, Suwannee (9-8) managed to win the third set thanks to the serving of Jordan Esco (three aces) and Jaylin Roberts’ two kills.
