VSU cross country teams 11th at GSC Championships

Both Valdosta State cross country teams placed 11th, respectively, at the Gulf South Conference Championships on Saturday in Danville, Ala.

The VSU women placed 11th out of 14 teams. Tyra Holloway delivered another sensational effort to claim first-team All-GSC honors after the event. Holloway placed fourth overall out of 108 runners and scorched the 5K course with a time of 18:17.4. The time eclipsed Holloway’s personal record by nearly 20 seconds.

Meghan McShea was also a force to be reckoned with, thanks to a 19:11.9 finish. McShea missed cracking the top 20 by just 5 seconds, and was just 2 seconds off of her personal record.

Other contributors for the Blazers included Jacinda Miller (78th, 21:06.7), Jamie Ford (79th, 21:08.7), Olivia Rosener (21:16.5), Catherine Kuras (95th, 22:16.1), Angela Cipriani (22:43.5) and Sydney Tomberlin (98th, 23:04.0).

With a team time of 27:17.1 on the 8K course, the Valdosta State men landed in 11th place out of 13 teams.

The Blazers were led by senior Connor Dalrymple, who recorded a time of 26:48.7 for a 50th-place finish. Jaison Morning, who recently returned from injury issues, posted a time of 26:58.9 and finished 54th.

Michael Perona clocked in at 27:21 and placed 60th, Gavin Childers fell in at 66th with a time of 27:35.4 and Caleb Griffin finished 68th with a time of 27:40.9.

Remaining competitors for the Blazers included Nicholas Flatt (74th, 27:50.3), Josh Hall (76th, 27:52.3), Andrew Elam (90th, 28:59.6) and Caleb Watson (93rd, 29:44.1).
