Veterans Day events planned for Jasper, White Springs

JASPER — The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8095 with the help of the American Legion will be hosting a Veterans Day program on Friday at 11 a.m at Veterans Memorial Park.
The posting of the colors will be done by Hamilton County High School Air Force JROTC, who will also be performing a drill team demonstration. The HCHS band and choir will be performing patriotic songs throughout the program.

The guest speaker will be Retired US Navy Commander Bob Holdredge, as well as a special recognition of the AL Post 215 and VFW Post 8095.
Commander Sergeant Major Anthony L. Boles, a Jennings native, will also be at Friday’s program in Jasper.
Boles was recently inducted into the U.S. Army Ordnance Corps Hall of Fame.
Enlisting into the army at 18 years old, Boles was assigned to the 2nd Armored Division, 24th Infantry Division, 2nd Infantry Division and the 1st Corps Support Command.
He spent 10 years from 2003-13 as a Command Sergeant Major for the 264th Corps Support Battalion. Then for the 406th Army Field Support Brigade and the 401st Army Field Support Brigade. All three were deployed to both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
Boles played a major role in taking initiatives to integrating female soldiers in MOSs 91A, 91M and 91P; incorporation of Army Learning Model 2015; Skills Based Training and Training with Industry.

Boles retired in 2014.
On Saturday, a Veterans Day event will be held in White Springs at the Veteran’s Park, 16609 Spring Street.
The event will start at 10:30 a.m. with lunch to follow at the Community Center, 12760 Roberts Street.
