Bob Hochmuth named Extension Professional of the Year

LIVE OAK — Florida Farm Bureau recognized a local extension agent along with young farmers and ranchers, state lawmakers and the accomplishments of county Farm Bureaus and individual members for their distinguished service to agriculture Oct. 31.
Bob Hochmuth, Assistant Director at the North Florida Research and Education Center – Suwannee Valley, was recognized as Extension Professional of the Year.
Hochmuth has been an Extension Agent at the North Florida Research and Education Center – Suwannee Valley for the past 28 years.
Florida Farm Bureau President John Hoblick and Suwannee County Farm Bureau President Randall Dasher presented the award Hochmuth.
“I was very humbled to hear I was the recipient of this award,” Hochmuth said. “It is very special knowing it comes from the very farmers I love to serve and have gladly worked with for the past 28 years here in Suwannee County.
“I am fortunate to still love my job every day.”
Katherine Allen, county extension director, said this was the first time the award has been given out and she is excited to see Hochmuth honored for all of his hard work.
“There were amazing candidates throughout the state of Florida and it is exciting to know Farm Bureau chose Bob to receive this award,” Allen said. “It is a testament to his dedication to the industry and to his work with farmers to meet their needs.
“We are really lucky to have Bob and it is exciting to see a colleague who deserves the award get it.”
