King’s Deli coming to town

VALDOSTA — The old Diggidees building at 2117 Bemiss Road is undergoing construction for a new restaurant: King’s Deli.

Currently, the building is having a new cooler installed and roof repairs, said John Johnson Sr., owner of Azalea City Shopping Center.

King’s Deli will be a mashup of hibachi, wings and Philly cheese steak sandwiches, said Enji Mun, owner.

While it may seem like an odd choice of foods to specialize, Mun said the three foods were chosen based off of her father’s recipes.

“We had great recipes for wings, and we had a great teriyaki sauce,” she said. “We make it fresh with more than 30 ingredients that takes more than four hours to make. We decided to take hibachi and add it into the pan.”

Mun said the hibachi may be a little different than how it is normally presented due to Korean influences including spices.

King’s Deli has two other restaurants, one in Americus and the other in Albany.

Mun decided to bring her restaurant to Valdosta because of the town’s reputation, Valdosta State University and she found a great location, she said.

“We are going to have great food and are hoping that you guys enjoy the food once we come,” she said.

King’s Deli is expected to open sometime in the next two to three weeks.
