After some vigorous training, and also teaching fitness classes, Watson says she is prepared.

“My previous event was the same distance — 31.1 miles or 50k,” Watson said. “My training feels stronger than the last.

“During training, I practice fluid stops, meal stops and clothes change stops. I go over the course and try to train on the same terrain.”

That training included a lot of 5 a.m. runs during the week and long weekend runs. And while this ultra-marathon would be another big accomplishment, Watson has even bigger running goals in mind.

“My goal is to run the 100-miler in 2020,” she said. “I love preaching about setting realist goals for myself, and for my clients.

“My 2020 goal of the 100-miler was set many years ago when I decided to turn my marathons into ultras. I will enjoy my ultra journey and train properly so I can enjoy all of the blessing the Lord has given me.”

Watson will be sponsored by Spectrum Tree Farms of Live Oak for the race. Her business, Your Pace Fitness, is located in Live Oak at 628 South Ohio Avenue.
