Roy Kirkland, co-owner and producer, said the film will be distributed nationwide this year through various venues which will be announced at a later date.

“Because of our agreement, we are limited to what we can reveal at this time. But I can say that this is a huge deal for us,” Kirkland said in a statement. “We are very excited that RKDS has the choice to have more ‘Spook Bridge’ theatrical screenings before the agreement goes into effect. Therefore because of the hundreds of emails we have received requesting another showing, we decided to do so. We want as many locals as possible to get a chance to see the film on the big screen without having to wait.”

Last October, “Spook Bridge” was shown to nearly 3,000 people at Mathis City Auditorium, according to the film company. Roy Kirkland and director co-owner Doug Sebastian, who make up the company name RKDS, said they are confident it wouldn’t take long to choose the best route for their movie.

They said “Spook Bridge” received interest from various distributors including a theater film booking agent.

“As filmmakers, as with any other business, you have to make decisions based on what’s financially best for your company. We feel very confident that we have made the right decision in which we still have full control over our film,” Kirkland said.

RKDS credits the interest and success of “Spook Bridge” to the actual existence of the historic bridge, story, acting, time periods, special effects, cinematography and the various South Georgia locations.

As with any typical horror movie, “Spook Bridge” does contain strong language and violence. Kirkland compared their film to other R-rated films currently being shown in theaters.

The Valdosta filmmakers said have three other films scheduled for release this year and distributed nationally and have plans to create more films in South Georgia.

Kirkland and Sebastian said they feel there is a strong need to have a larger film studio in the Valdosta area and still have intentions to make this happen.

“There are many potential investors out there,” they said. “Our hope is that they realize that we have been working hard for years at growing the film industry here and will jump on board.”

Tickets for Spook Bridge are $10 each and can be purchased at the venue the day and night of the event or online at www.SpookBridge.com.
