VALDOSTA — Actors, singers and models, prepare for auditions now because J Pervis will soon be here to scout young talent.

Atlanta-based J Pervis Talent Agency and Click Model Management will visit Amanda’s Models and Talent Feb. 3 to hold an open call and an on-camera audition workshop.

Amanda’s Model’s owner Amanda Kirk said this a good opportunity for people to easily be seen by Jayme Pervis, owner of J Pervis.

“Just the open call itself is worth it because you can’t see her any other way,” she said. “You can send in pictures and hope that they’ll call you in, but this is guaranteed one-on-one time with her.”

Open to the public, the open call will be held 10 a.m.-noon, and there is a $25 cash fee to cover travel arrangements, according to organizers.

Kirk said people interested in the open call will need to bring a non-returnable photo of themselves, and the photo does not have to be professionally taken.

If a person has a resume, he or she is encouraged to bring it with them, though it is not mandatory, Kirk said.

Set to begin at 1 p.m. is the workshop for aspiring actors and models, according to organizers, and the fee is $125.

During the workshop, hopefuls will “learn the art of improv” and also how to self tape, according to organizers.

Seventeen-year-old Mary Leigh Moseley, who’s signed to Amanda’s Models, has auditioned for J Pervis five times, and only officially signed with the agency two months ago.

She said it was difficult to hear no from Pervis, but she said being told no in her field is common.

“No is the biggest word you hear in the industry, and so taking that into consideration, it just kind of made me want to push harder,” she said.

Moseley said Pervis is searching for children with big personalities who can enter into a room and talk to anyone.

Sixteen-year-old Sarah Grace Harrison and 5-year-old Jack Ferguson, both signed to Amanda’s Models, have callbacks with Pervis.

“The one-on-one is the easiest part to me, just talking to her was like the greatest thing because she makes you feel like so amazing inside,” Harrison said.

Kirk will be looking for new talent for her agency at the open call and she said some of her clients can be seen in both commercials and films.

“We’ve done a Synovus Bank commercial that’s still airing, (and) Hardee’s that aired during the Super Bowl, which was huge,” she said.

One of her clients, 7-year-old Jacks Dean has done work in commercials such as Nature’s Own and Belk, and he played Bernard in the 2017 film “A Bad Moms Christmas.”

For newcomers planning to attend the audition, Kirk said it’s OK to not be signed with an agency, as she added many have been signed during their first time at the open call.

She said she and Pervis are looking for the “it” factor.

“Just make sure that your child wants to do (this), and make sure they’re ready to talk,” she said. “Make sure that your kid wants to do (this) more than what you want them to do (this). That’s the huge thing.”
