Resident: Masked men invade Valdosta home

VALDOSTA – A Valdosta man claims he was hit in the face and robbed by masked men who forcibly entered his residence Monday night, according to a Valdosta Police Department report.
The resident said a man he knows helped the masked men gain access to the residence.
At approximately 9:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, the man said he heard a knock at the door of his 5100 block Glory Place residence, according to the VPD report.
The man “answered it and found an African-American male that he is acquainted with standing on the porch,” according to the report. “He said several masked males came from behind the acquaintance and entered the house with weapons.”
The resident said one of the men hit him in the face with a weapon. He was cut on the chin but did not need medical attention, according to the VPD.
The masked men took several items from the residence.
The resident called police. Officers and K-9 dogs responded to the scene but were unable to locate any suspects.
VPD person’s crime detectives and evidence technicians continued the investigation. They are looking into a person of interest in the case.
Police are describing the incident as a home invasion.
