At Saturday’s 7 p.m. performance at the White Springs Methodist Church, 16580 U.S. Highway 41 (Spring Street), Skip Johns and the Lowlands band will play as will Booie Beach, Rachel Grubb and White Springs’ own Lucinda Gail Maynard.

Johns is a Lake City native who has performed on the Grand Ole Opry Stage with the Travelers, a group that opened for the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

His latest band is Lowlands, an acoustic band with a range in performance from bluegrass to traditional country to blues and spiritual/Gospel to classical and popular pieces as well. Joining Johns in the group are Karen and Cora Gaines from Moultrie, Ga., Jasper’s Lee Bryant, Ed Pintado and Lake City’s Jessica Ellis. The name is a reference to the band’s origins among the rivers, pinelands and coastal plains of Florida and Georgia, the timelessness of ancient forests and bottomlands and the unique music and aura that characterizes this place and this band.

Beach is a nationally-known flat picker from Branford. He’s been singing and playing guitar since he was 11, performing on three European tours and also received a Grammy nomination for the album “Murder on Music Row.”

Maynard is a singer-singwriter living in White Springs with a rich musical heritage, both as a solo artist as we well as member of the yodeling Makley Family, which has performed at the Florida Folk Festival for more than 40 years.

Grubb, from Lake City, grew up singing backseat harmony from the Baptist Hymnal and The Mamas and The Papas. She now plays venues and festivals across the state with a blues-infused Americana music style.

To assure a seat at the event, which is anticipated to be a full house, please RSVP to mckenziew@windstream.net or call 386-303-1394.

A suggested donation of $15 includes refreshments at intermission.
