LIVE OAK — A new Publix could be coming to the north side of Suwannee County based on an application to the Suwannee River Water Management District.
The application, which calls the project “Publix at Live Oak,” requests the construction of a stormwater management system at the northwest corner of U.S. Highway 129 and 72nd Trace.
The application, which has yet to be approved, states the project will consist of an approximate 48,000-square foot grocery store, 7,000-square feet of additional shop space, three out parcels with parking and driveways.
Dwayne Stevens, a spokesperson for Publix Super Markets, said he could not comment about the proposed development at this time.
Atlanta-based ARS Ventures, LLC, is the project developer.
In August 2016, the City of Live Oak annexed 11.59 acres, for the purpose of a shopping center, into the city limits.
This is in the same location the Publix at Live Oak project is proposed for.
Dennis Music, with Overlook Investment Group, submitted that proposal to the city. He said at the time he was acting on behalf of a client he didn’t name.
Currently, the local Publix is located at South Oaks Square, 1528 Ohio Ave. S.
