Aaron Haughton and Andrew Williamson both hit home runs in the fourth inning, but the Valdosta State baseball team couldn’t hold off a Georgia Southwestern comeback.
The Blazers took a 4-3 loss at Hurricane Stadium in Americus on Wednesday.
With the Hurricanes (3-9, 0-6 Peach Belt Conference) leading 2-1, Houghton homered across center field to tie things before Williamson blasted one across center field to put the Blazers (6-9, 0-3 Gulf South Conference) on top 3-2.
Josh Logan scored the go-ahead run for the Canes in the fifth, and Bradley Hough’s sacrifice fly scored Andy Moore later in the frame.
VSU finished with five hits.
Tristan Cone (1-1) took the loss on the mound for the Blazers. He lasted 1/3 of an inning, allowing two runs on three hits with no strikeouts and no walks.
Jared Jones went 3 for 4 with an RBI for the Canes. Moore added two hits and an RBI.
Kyle Britt (1-0) earned the win for GSW, surrendering three runs on five hits with nine strikeouts and one walk in eight innings.
