VALDOSTA – The sun will come out tomorrow and so will “Annie.”

Little Actors Theatre presents a child-sized version of the popular musical.

“Annie Jr.” features the expected songs of “It’s the Hard-Knock Life,” “Tomorrow” and “Maybe,” said Valerie Gales, the show director.

Gales is a Valdosta State University student who started the show as assistant director, but picked up the director role as Diane Tovar, LAT director, recuperated from back surgery, Tovar said.

“I’ve been her assistant,” Tovar said.

Gales said “Annie Jr.” has many of the beloved songs and plot presented in an abbreviated form structured for younger performers – which is why the show carries the “junior” designation.

“Annie” is based on the “Little Orphan Annie” newspaper comic strip of the misadventures of a young girl who is adopted by the rich Daddy Warbucks.

For more than a decade, Little Actors Theatre has presented plays for children by children. 

 The youngsters will perform the show three times during the weekend.
