The South Georgia All-stars traveled to the Atlanta World Congress Center over the weekend of Feb. 17 to compete at one of the largest cheer competitions of the year known as Cheersport Nationals.

This year, SGA sent six competition teams including four full-year and two half-year teams.

First-place teams include: LEGACY (Senior Level 5 – Full Year), DIVINITY (Youth Level 2- Full Year), EMERALDS (Senior Level 2 – Half Year), and SHIMMER (Youth Level 1 – Half Year). These teams took home the coveted Cheersport National Championship jacket and the first-place trophy.

Each of the winning teams won gold bids to the U.S. finals. Full-year teams, LEGACY and DIVINITY also secured their entry to the invitation only SUMMITT competition televised from Walt Disney World at the end of the season.

SUPREMACY (Senior Level 3 – Full Year) finished third and EMPIRE (Junior Level 4 – Full Year) finished fifth.

Cheersport Nationals is one of the largest competitions a gym can enter with over 20,000 athletes participating in this two-day event.

“Our athletes are simply phenomenal,” said South Georgia All-stars head coach and owner, Ariel Harmon. “The level of dedication our cheerleaders and families have for this sport show when we hit that competition floor. We train our teams to focus on hitting zero deduction routines rather than always winning a first-place trophy.

“Satisfaction and life lessons you learn from teamwork far outweigh any trophy we receive.”

This weekend junior and senior teams will travel to Dallas to compete in another two-day competition to fight for winning titles at the NCA All-star National Championships.

South Georgia All-stars is located in Hahira, and the team serves athletes residing in Lowndes, Brooks, Thomas, Colquitt, Tift, Cook, Berrien, Lanier, Clinch, Echols, Hamilton, Columbia, and Baker counties.
