As Valdosta grows, businesses open, move, renovate and close down.
The following is a list of recent business happenings in Lowndes County and the surrounding area.
HAHIRA
• SJ&T Yoga, 200 S. Church St., opened March 8. Beginner classes are 6:30-7:30 p.m. Monday and Thursday. Yin yoga classes are 9-10 a.m. Wednesdays. For more information, call (229) 794-0099.
VALDOSTA
• Panera Bread, 1173 N. St. Augustine Road, is under construction according to building permits. The business will be located where the old El Potro burned down.
• The Taste, 2905 N. Ashley St., opened Feb. 28. It is a Southern cooking restaurant. It is open 11 a.m.- 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m.- 7 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call (229) 244-2098.
• Danny’s Music, 1601 Baytree Road, Suite B2, opened Feb. 21. It is a music store. It is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. For more information, call (229) 474-4350.
• The Old Time Butcher Shoppe, 1581 Baytree Road, opened Feb. 23. It is a traditional butcher shop. It is open 9 a.m.- 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. For more information, call (229) 293-1398.
•The Urology Institute and Continence Center, 2601 Bemiss Road, Suite N, opened Feb. 1. The doctor deals with voiding issues for both men and women, kidney stones and bladder issues. For men he handles prostate issues and erectile dysfunction. For more information, call (229) 474-4383.
• McDonald’s, 4109 Bemiss Road, has finished construction and is renovated.
• La Quinta Inn and Suites, 1800 Clubhouse Drive, has started reconstruction. Renovations are expected to be complete by May 1.
• The site of 3886 Bemiss Road has what appears to be a four-lot building being constructed next to Red Owl. There is a sign stating the building will be the new home of Endless Summer Tanning Salon.
• Liquor Loft, 2541 Bemiss Road, is where the old Rutland’s Music building was located. There have been vans unloading product into the store during the course of the last week.
