As Valdosta grows, businesses open, move, renovate and close down. The following is a list of recent business happenings in Lowndes County and the surrounding area.

• SJ&T Yoga, 200 S. Church St., opened March 8. Beginner classes are 6:30-7:30 p.m. Monday and Thursday. Yin yoga classes are 9-10 a.m. Wednesdays. For more information, call (229) 794-0099.

VALDOSTA

• Thai Chang Restaurant 2, 2910 N. Ashley St., Suite G, opened March 19. It serves Thai food. It is open 10:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. For more information, call (229) 219-8555.

• Margaronas Mexican Restaurant, 907 N. Ashley St., is expected to open by mid to late April. It will be a Mexican restaurant.

• Ron’s Appliances maintenance and repair services, 303-305 E. Mary St., opened March 14. Refurbish appliances and sell refurbished appliances. 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information (229) 375-9540.

• Carina’s Custom Creations & Accessories, it is an online business, opened March 9. The business sells custom jewelry, bow ties, hair bows, baby headbands and whatever else the owner creates. For more information, visit www.carinascustomcreations.com.

• Hidden Performance Tuning, 1714 Gornto Road, Suite B, opened Jan. 15. Automotive performance and repair shop, but mostly performance. It is open 9 a.m-6 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call (229) 293-1320

• Walmart, 4196 Bemiss Road, has adjusted its hours. It will now be open 6 a.m.-midnight seven days a week.

• Surcheros Fresh Grill, 3209 N. Oak St., Suite B, is expected to be open April 23. The inside of the building appears to be under renovation. It is located in the same building as Small Cakes. Other Sucheros locations serve burritos, tacos, quesadillas, nachos, salads and dessert. 

• Howard Center, 2216 Greystone Way, opened March 1. It is a OB/GYN and offers IV therapy and the Howard Diet. It is open 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call (229) 391-3500.

• The lot on North Valdosta Road across from the South Georgia Medical Center Outpatient Plaza has had dirt moved on it for at least a month. According to the Valdosta-Lowndes County permitting office, the intended use for the land is agricultural in nature, and a building permit is not required at this time.

• The site of 3886 Bemiss Road has what appears to be a four-lot building being constructed next to Red Owl. Endless Summer Tanning Salon and Freeman Electrical are moving to the new building. Construction is expected to be completed around mid-April.

• Panera Bread, 1173 N. St. Augustine Road, is under construction according to building permits. The business will be located where the old El Potro burned down.

• La Quinta Inn and Suites, 1800 Clubhouse Drive, has started reconstruction. Renovations are expected to be complete by May 1.

• Liquor Loft, 2541 Bemiss Road, is where the old Rutland’s Music building was located. There have been vans unloading product into the store during the course of the last week.
