Students prep for Shuler Awards

VALDOSTA – Lowndes High School students are part of a statewide effort to prepare for theatre awards.

ArtsBridge Foundation, producers of the Shuler Awards, is preparing for the 10th anniversary of the Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards. Seventy-five high schools across the state enrolled in the 2018 program.

Georgia Public Broadcasting will air the awards show live on its nine-station statewide network from the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, 7 p.m., April 19.

30 students have been selected this year to be part of the prestigious STAR Council. STAR stands for “Students Take A Role,” and the students also act as the student advisory board for the Shuler Awards. 

Trevor Clayton of Lowndes High School is a member of the STAR Council.

One-hundred-ten actors and actresses from around the state will perform in the Shuler Student Ensemble at the awards show. The Shuler Student Ensemble features talented young men and women who were nominated by their high school theatre directors. 

Riley Davis and Meredith Reitz of Lowndes High School are in the 2018 Shuler student ensemble.
