JASPER — The Hamilton County Board of County Commissioners adopted a resolution at its April 2 meeting in recognition of National Lineman Appreciation Day.
Suwannee Valley Electric Cooperative’s Cecil Cheshire and Hunter Ash were present for recognition for National Lineman Appreciation Day, which was April 9.
The day, and the resolution, is in recognition of the work that linemen do during severe storms and natural disasters in the country and local communities.
Also during the meeting, the county awarded a pair of bids.
The bid for a front wheel loader went to Ring Power for $159,631, while a bid was awarded to Plumb Level Construction Company LLC for $44,496 for the Sandlin Building re-roofing project. The project will repair the roof for the Building Department.
The public hearing for the five-year term to allow phosphate mining between White Springs Agricultural Chemicals Inc. and Hamilton County will be continued at next Tuesday’s meeting.
It was also announced that there will be a free concert at Veterans Park on April 20 with Matt Johns and Gateway City Big Band performing from 5-8 p.m. There will be vendors on site, but the public is encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
Renovations to the country courthouse will be discussed at the first meeting in May.
