LIVE OAK — The Suwannee softball team is swinging some hot bats heading into the district tournament.
Suwannee (10-11, 3-1) needed just three innings on Wednesday to mercy-rule Bolles 16-1. Playing their final home game of the regular season, the Bulldogs notched 19 hits. They brought 16 hitters to the plate in the first inning and took an 11-0 lead.

It was a little different game than the first time the two teams met this season — a 5-0 SHS win on Feb. 28.
“Bolles was missing two or three of their better players (today), but the last time we played them we hit the ball nothing like that,” said Suwannee coach Jeff Smith. “We hit the ball a lot better and most of those were base hits.”
Skylar Redish went 3-4 with two doubles and two RBIs. Kinsey Taylor and Savannah Brown had three hits apiece and Mariah King got her first win and struck out four.
The Bulldogs have scored 31 runs in their last two games and are averaging 10 runs per game in their last six contests.
UP NEXT: Suwannee plays at West Nassau today. SHS begins the district tournament, held at Baker County High, on Tuesday against Bolles. The winner of that game faces Baker County on Thursday for the district title.
