Carson Frier had two hits and two RBIs to help Suwannee defeat Bolles and advance to the district championship.

Suwannee (11-12) topped Bolles 6-0 on Tuesday in the first round of the district tournament. Caileigh Croft, Carson Frier, MacKenzie Taylor, Savannah Brown and Skylar Redish all had multiple hits. Frier drove in two runs.

Brandi Davis pitched a complete-game three-hitter with six strikeouts.

SHS will face Baker County at BCHS on Thursday for the district championship. Game time is 7 p.m.

In Jasper, Lafayette (15-10) defeated Jefferson County 15-0 in a district semifinal. Ragan Barnes and Haley Ellefson both went 3-3 with a home run for the Hornets, who won by mercy rule after three innings.

In the other District 5-1A semifinal game, Madison County defeated Hamilton County.

Lafayette will face Madison County for the district title on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Hamilton County High School.

At Bell High School, Branford (10-8) saw its season come to an end with a 14-2 loss to Dixie County.

Branford never got on track on Tuesday. BHS fell behind 6-1 after two innings and lost by run-rule after five.

The Buccaneers, who combined for 25 hits in two wins against DCHS earlier this season, were limited to four hits by Dani Sellers.

Destiny Fennell had two hits, both doubles. Branford was without pitcher Kayley Walker (flu) and cleanup hitter Brittany Frye, who exited in the top of the first inning.

“The girls didn’t have their heads on tonight,” said BHS coach Oscar Saavedra. “When a team sees two great players not on the field, it’s hard for the girls to adjust. You take one piece out of the puzzle and they shut down. I couldn’t get it back together and make it work. Really disappointed.”

Dixie County will face Trenton on Thursday in a District 7-1A semifinal while Bell faces Chiefland in the other semifinal game.
