Reed beats Yulee in District 1

LIVE OAK — There will be two new members on the Live Oak City Council.

Robintina Reed garnered 39 votes Tuesday to overcome incumbent John Yulee’s lead in the District 1 race through early voting and absentee ballots. Reed finished with 65 votes to Yulee’s 58 after Yulee led 28-26 heading into Election Day.

There will also be a new councilor from District 4, although that member won’t be known until a runoff is held June 12. Mark Stewart garnered 109 votes and Norman Crawford received 77 to head into the runoff. John W. Hill received 64 votes and Jerry Poole had 57.

Current District 4 councilor Frank Davis was successful in his run for mayor, garnering 515 votes to Tommie Jefferson’s 262.
