THOMASVILLE, Ga. — Two suspects took law enforcement an unusual type of chase recently.
Drug agents were patrolling Rook Road near Ochlocknee “on a separate investigation,” according to Louis Schofill, Thomas County/Thomasville Narcotics/Vice Division commander.
The suspects — Sabrina Dawn Melvin, 39, of Thomasville and Kyle Moore Currin, 32, of Whigham — saw the agents’ car, turned around and went in the opposite direction, Schofill said.
“They thought it was suspicious and they might be part of the investigation they were on,” he added.
Narcotics agents attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the suspects’ vehicle. The two engaged in a “slow speed chase,” Schofill said, as the suspects’ vehicle was going around 15-25 mph.
During the chase, both suspects were throwing items out of the vehicle’s windows, the drug squad command-er added.
Law enforcement eventually pulled the suspects over. The discarding of the items was captured “all on camera,” Schofill said, and agents went back to try to find what was thrown out.
Schofill said agents recovered the items, determined to be drugs.
Agents recovered slightly more than three grams of methamphetamine and 18 painkiller pills, according to Schofill.
The suspects each face possession charges and tampering with evidence.
Currin, who was the driver, also was charged fleeing or attempting to elude for a felony offense.
