MAYO — The Lafayette County Board of County Commissioners are planning on exploring more funding options before moving forward with the County Road 300 flooding project.
At Monday’s meeting, Clerk of Court Steve Land asked the board for some direction on the project.

He said the board needs to decide whether it wants to spend a portion of the $425,000 before determining where the funding needed to finish the project will come from.
“We’ve got some options but we are not going to know anything until August,” Land said.
Commissioner Anthony Adams suggested the county withhold payment to County Engineer Frank Darabi until there is clarification on funding for the project.
The board approved.
At the April 22 meeting, Darabi said that he used a smaller cost estimate when he applied for grants and would continue looking for additional funding.
The commissioners also approved a request for qualifications from Susie Hudson with Poole Realty.

The board wants to sell some surplus county land, which did not receive any bids during the normal bid process. The board asked for Hudson to attend the June 11 meeting to discuss an agreement.
