HAHIRA – Voters appear to have approved Sunday package sales in this Lowndes County town.
Hahira residents voted yes to Sunday package sales 171, or about 60 percent, to 115, or about 40 percent Tuesday during the special referendum election, according to numbers on the Georgia Secretary of State site.
The measure will only apply to package sales of beer and wine. Liquor and by-the-drink sales in restaurants or bars will still be prohibited Sundays, according to city officials.
Provisional ballots will be counted and votes will be certified in the coming days.
