Peach State brings music to summer

Peach State Summer Theatre returns this weekend, promising to transport audiences to a legendary night in rock & roll, a newsboy revolt from a century-plus past and a fabled matchmaker seeking a match for a well-known miser … all here in Valdosta.
PSST! 2018 season opens Friday, May 25, with the live production of “Million Dollar Quarter.” Disney’s “Newsies” opens June 8. “Hello, Dolly!” opens June 22.

Once all three shows open, the productions run in revolving repertory through mid July.
Since 2005, PSST! has prepared, rehearsed and performed professional musicals in Valdosta.
As more people have discovered the magic of Peach State, audience attendance has grown.
Part of the attraction comes from Peach State being professional musical theatre built on the national reputation of Valdosta State University’s theatre program.
Peach State is a professional repertory company that hires working actors and technical staff during auditions throughout the Southeast and in the North while giving professional experience to many VSU Theatre & Dance students.
The 2018 season will build upon past successes which have included the General Assembly designating Peach State Summer Theatre as the official musical theatre of the State of Georgia.

And while audiences enjoy the shows of the season, PSST! will already be preparing for the 2019 season.
Peach State representatives have often said they believe in the prospect that Valdosta is no longer a stop-over on the way to Florida, or a place for travelers to refuel, eat and be on their way. But rather, in making Valdosta its home, PSST! took a leap of faith that Valdosta is becoming a destination for travelers.
The Valdosta Daily Times believes in that possibility, too, and has signed on again as corporate sponsor of Peach State Summer Theatre.
On with the shows!
