VALDOSTA, Ga. — Residents living near Statenville Highway have a new place to shop: Dollar General.
The new store at 3603 New Statenville Highway opened May 27 and will hold its grand opening Saturday, June 9, according to store officials.
As part of the grand opening, the store will give out prizes, incentives and deals, according to a statement from Dollar General corporate officials.
Along with discounts, the first 50 adult shoppers at the store will receive a $10 Dollar General gift card and the first 200 shoppers will receive a Dollar General tote bag with complementary product samples, according to the release.
“Dollar General is committed to delivering a pleasant shopping experience that includes a convenient location, a wide assortment of merchandise and great prices on quality products,” said Dan Nieser, Dollar General senior vice president of real estate and store development. “We hope our area customers will enjoy shopping at Dollar General’s new location.”
For Chelsea Tomonitsu, a resident who lives near the Dollar General, the new store location is extremely convenient, she said, and is where she plans to shop for her daily essentials.
“It’s great because we live, like, 13 miles out of town,” she said. “So, coming right down the road is pretty great instead of driving 20 minutes to Walmart.”
Dollar General stores offer a focused selection of national name brands and private brands of food, housewares, seasonal items, cleaning supplies, basic apparel and health/beauty products, according to store officials.
The store’s layout is designed to make shopping simple for customers, the release states. The aisles are wide enough for two people to walk down and refrigerated food is located near the front of the store.
Seasonal products are displayed in the center of the store, departments are easily recognizable with visible signs, according to Dollar General officials.
Dollar Generals traditionally employ six to 10 people, according to the company. Anyone interested in working at the new location can apply via the career section at www.dollargeneral.com.
