Valdosta fuel prices keep dropping

VALDOSTA — Gasoline prices in the city continued to slide last week, following state and national trends, according to statistics.

The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline Sunday in the city was $2.66, down three cents from the previous Sunday, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report.

That average gave Valdosta the seventh most expensive fuel Sunday out of 17 Georgia fuel markets reviewed by the auto club.

The least expensive fuel price reported in Valdosta Sunday was $2.55 a gallon at several retailers, according to the price tracking website gasbuddy.com.

Nationally, the average price of gasoline was $2.90 a gallon, down from $2.92 a gallon seven days earlier, while Georgia’s average of $2.75 a gallon was down by four cents in the same period, according to AAA.

In Friday market action, benchmark U.S. crude rose 5 cents to $66.94 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. On Thursday, it rose 25 cents to settle at $66.89 per barrel. Brent crude, the international standard, fell 13 cents to $75.81 per barrel. Thursday, it fell 80 cents to $75.94.
