South Georgians face federal drug charges

VALDOSTA, Ga. — Federal indictments have been handed down against several people on various charges in Lowndes and Brooks County, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

The indictments were handed down earlier this month, according to a DOJ statement. An indictment is not a conviction of guilt.

• Cindy Ann Bledsoe, 30, of Daytona, Fla., is charged with one one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, according to the statement. If convicted, she faces a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison, a $5,000,000 fine or both.

The case was investigated by the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Sonja B. Profit.

• Jacob M. Walker, 31, of Jacksonville, Fla.; Andrew B. O’Haire, 37, of Quitman and George T. Walker, 55, of Hahira are each charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute marijuana; each faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison, a $250,000 fine, or both, if convicted, according to the DOJ.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration in Amarillo, Texas, and Valdosta; the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia State Patrol and is being prosecuted by Profit.

• Christopher G. Swinson, 33, of Valdosta is charged with one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute marijuana and one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, according to the statement. If convicted, Swinson faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison, a $250,000 fine, or both on the first count, and a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison and a maximum sentence of 40 years and a $250,000 fine, or both on the second count.
