Fourth of July events planned for Wednesday

- Live Oak and Branford celebrated Independence Day with a fireworks show at the end.
LIVE OAK — Suwannee County residents will have two local Fourth of July to attend this year.
The Branford returns for its 40th River Reunion.
The River Reunion festivities begin in the morning with a kayak race. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and race follows at 10 a.m.
The Rotary Club of Branford’s annual Duck Race will be at 2 p.m. at Ivey Park.
At 3 p.m., local entertainment, bounce houses and the food and craft booths will open at Hatch Park. The booths will remain open until dark.
Among the entertainers lined up, so far, to perform are Christina Lay, Kristy Lane, Jonathan Plummer, Silvia, Krista Karr, Terry Boyd, Joe Loper and the New Beginning Band.
The annual parade is slated for 6 p.m., followed by the Bedrock Derby at 7 p.m.
The grand finale will be the fireworks show at dark, around 9:30 p.m.
Live Oak’s Freedom Festival returns for the fifth time at Festival Park in downtown Live Oak.
The Freedom Festival in Live Oak begins at 5 p.m., and will feature local entertainment as well as bounce houses, games and food and craft booths.
Live Oak Police Chief Buddy Williams, the event’s organizer, said Sadie Miller, Hallie Davis, The Kellen Vincent Band and more are scheduled to perform.
The live music will continue until the fireworks show also around 9:30 p.m.
Williams said U.S. Highway 90 will be closed to traffic from U.S. Highway 129 to Houston Avenue at 4 p.m.
“We look forward to having everybody come out and enjoy the event,” Williams said.
