The City of Live Oak’s Fourth of July celebration featured six vendor booths, face painting, bounce houses and a handful of local entertainment.

Live Oak Police Chief Buddy Williams, the event’s organizer, said there was an estimated 3,000 to 5,000 people in downtown Live Oak for the event that started at 5 p.m. and lasted through the fireworks show.

“It was loaded,” Williams said of the attendance. “And when you’re riding on the outskirts of it, that’s when it was really packed. But when you bring that many people together and have no incidents. It rained three times, but …

“The local talent was awesome on the stage. I just think it was a great way to celebrate Independence Day.”

The local talent, which included Sadie Miller from Branford, Hallie Davis from Jasper, The Kellen Vincent Band and Scotty Williams & The Drifters, had children and adults alike dancing in front of the stage in Festival Park.

And there was a long line of people waiting to get their face painted by Nada Meeks.

“Overall, even outside of the rain, I felt like we had a very good festival,” Williams added. “I thought the fireworks were amazing.

“To me, it’s a shining star in what the city of Live Oak and the Live Oak CRA do for our community.

“I truly think that everybody really enjoyed themselves.”
