THOMASVILLE — Thomas County-Thomasville drug squad agents caught a suspect trying to get rid of the evidence — in a business’ bathroom.
According to Louis Schofill, drug squad commander, agents received information on July 26 that a pound of spice, or synthetic marijuana, was going to be delivered at a West Jackson Street business.
Agents set up surveillance at around 5:15 p.m. and saw the suspects making the spice delivery pull into the business’ parking lot. Three men got out, with two of them going into the business and the other acting as a lookout, Schofill said.
As agents approached the two men in the business, one of them, identified as Dominic Clark of Thomasville, went into the business’ bathroom and began to try to flush the spice down the toilet. But agents got to him before he could dispose of the rest of the drugs.
“He also attempted to put some in his mouth and eat that,” Schofill said.
Agents also found a bag of marijuana Clark was carrying, Schofill said.
Also arrested was Marcus Walden of Thomasvillie, who was stationed in the parking lot as a lookout, according to Schofill.
The third suspect, identified as Byron Brooks, ran from agents. Authorities searched the area but found no trace of him. The car the men drove to the business belongs to Brooks, Schofill said.
A search of the car revealed open containers of alcohol, material for drug use, 27 grams of marijuana and another bag of spice, Schofill said.
Clark, who is on parole, was charged with trafficking of spice, a schedule 1 drug, possession of marijuana and destruction and tampering of evidence. Walden was charged with possession of spice and possession of marijuana.
Warrants were taken out on Walden for possession of marijuana and spice.
