Makerspace opening at Branford Library

BRANFORD — The Branford Public Library’s new Makerspace area is opening later this month.

The area, which will allow patrons to tinker, build and learn, will open Aug. 13.

The library said in a release there will be something new to explore each time someone comes.

Also scheduled for the Branford branch of the Suwannee River Regional Library system in August is a Quit Your Way meeting offered by Tobacco Free Florida. The group offers free tools and services to help people get started in quitting tobacco. Pre-registration is required by calling 1-866-341-2730. The meeting is Monday, Aug. 6, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

The library also hosts a knitting, crocheting and looming circle every Friday at 10 a.m. Those interested in attending should bring their own needles and yarn.

The library will also serve as an early voting location for Suwannee County voters from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from Aug. 18 through Aug. 25. Voters should bring their ID with them.

The library’s Book Club is meeting Aug. 24 at 11 a.m. to discuss “Mrs. Sherlock Holmes.”

Movie day at the library is scheduled for Aug. 27 at 1 p.m. A family-friendly movie will be shown with free popcorn and lemonade. Call the library at 386-935-1556 for the movie title.

String music will fill the library on Aug. 27 at 6 p.m.
