The Georgia football team held its eight practice Saturday, and its first scrimmage. Members of the media were allowed a viewing period of 8 minutes. Here are some observations from The Red & Black.

OFFENSE

Senior receiver Terry Godwin was not seen at practice as he is still recovering from a left knee injury. Freshman Kearis Jackson was working off to the side with freshman defensive back Divaad Wilson, who both were unable to practice but were fully padded and dressed.

Quarterbacks Jake Fromm and Justin Fields both took reps working on their three-step drops. Both Fromm and Fields remain as the only two scholarship quarterbacks on the roster.

The running backs worked on blocking drills. Two running backs lined up against each other in pairs, including juniors Brian Herrien and Elijah Holyfield, freshmen James Cook and Zamir White and sophomore D’Andre Swift was with redshirt sophomore Prather Hudson.

The offensive line worked on double team drills. Lamont Gaillard worked at center along with freshman Warren Ericson. Freshman Jamaree Salyer was getting reps at left guard along with senior Kendall Baker.

The receivers caught short and intermediate throws from the quarterbacks, and juniors Riley Ridley and Tyler

Simmons went first. Junior transfer receiver Demetris Robertson, fresh off a waiver approval from the NCAA granting him full eligibility, was practicing, fully padded and dressed out.

DEFENSE

Sophomore linebacker Nate McBride was riding a stationary bike during the media viewing period, although it is unclear if he is injured or what kept him out of practice.

Another sophomore, defensive back Mark Webb, was practicing during the period with no limitations after running off to the side with Wilson and athletic trainer Ron Courson in previous practices.

The defensive backs worked on a drill that required them to back pedal, and senior Deandre Baker, junior J.R. Reed, junior Tyrique McGhee and freshman Tyson Campbell went first.

The defensive line did stances and starts and worked on getting around reach blocks. Senior Jonathan Ledbetter and juniors Tyler Clark and Julian Rochester led the way in drills.

The inside linebackers worked on a drill where they were to engage a man and run horizontally down the line. Sophomore Monty Rice and senior Juwan Taylor went first in the drill. The outside linebackers did a similar contact drill to work on technique, and senior D’Andre Walker and sophomore Walter Grant went first.
