VALDOSTA — Lowndes County School District Board of Education has called a meeting to move forward with the Lowndes High School construction project.

In an Aug. 6 work session, the board voted to rescind further negotiations with Cauthan Construction & Perry McCall, a firm that was going to be the potential construction management firm.

The decision brought the board back to the beginning stages of the LHS construction project.

Wes Taylor, superintendent, said during a previous interview he expects the board will make a final decision on choosing the construction management firm by September.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if they decide if the next week or so to have a called meeting in August to try to make some progress in terms of deciding which company to negotiate with,” Taylor said. “As long as a decision is made no later than September — we would be pushing it if it went into October.”
