VALDOSTA — South Georgia will be a little wetter and a little warmer by the end of the week, according to forecasters.
The first few days of the week should be fairly dry thanks to an easterly flow of moisture, said Frederico Dicatarina, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Tallahassee, Fla., office.

“(The start of the week) should be fairly quiet,” said Frank Strait, senior meteorologist with the private forecasting firm AccuWether.
A high-pressure system to the west is keeping South Georgia dry during the first half of the week, he said.
Toward the end of the week, things will get a little warmer and rain chances will increase he said. Storm chances will rise from the 20-30 percent range Monday and Tuesday to the 40-50 percent area by the weekend, Strait said.
The weather service is expecting highs in the lower 90s and lows in the lower 70s, Dicatarina said. The average high for Valdosta for this time of year is 89 degrees, Strait said.
Neither forecaster expected widespread severe weather, although isolated heavy storms are always possible, Strait said.
