Valdosta gas prices dip again

VALDOSTA — Gas prices dropped again in Lowndes County last week.
The average price of a gallon of regular gasoline in Valdosta Sunday was $2.64, down four cents from the previous Sunday, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report.
The lowest price for gasoline reported in the city Sunday was $2.53 a gallon at a store on U.S. 84, according to the price tracking website gasbuddy.com.
Valdosta tied with Gainesville for the eighth most expensive gasoline Sunday out of 17 Georgia markets monitored by the auto club.
Nationally, the average price of gasoline Sunday was $2.84, unchanged from a week ago, while the Georgia average of $2.69 was down by three cents in the same period, according to AAA.
In Friday market action, benchmark U.S. crude gained 1.3 percent to settle at $68.72 per barrel in New York. It snapped a seven-week losing streak, finishing this week about 5 percent higher. Brent crude, used to price international oils, rose 1.5 percent to close at $75.82 per barrel.
The latest increase in oil prices helped boost energy stocks. Concho Resources gained 2.7 percent to $137.99.
