LIVE OAK — The Live Oak Police Department is warning about counterfeit bills in the county.
According to LOPD, there were multiple reports of counterfeit $100 bills passed to local businesses and banks on Monday.
To identify genuine bills, the U.S. Currency advises $100 bills should feel rough to the touch, not smooth.
According to the U.S. Currency, the 100 in the lower right corner should change color from copper to green when tilted and when held up to the light, the bill should have a watermark of Benjamin Franklin on it.
If you suspect a counterfeit note or have information about counterfeiting, contact the Live Oak Police Department at 386-362-7463.
