Vikettes sweep Wildcats in regular-season finale

The Lowndes Vikettes swept the Camden County Wildcats at Morris-Coats Field of Dreams on Thursday, finishing the regular season with 11 straight wins.
Madison May hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning to propel the Vikettes to a 9-4 win in Game 1.
May finished with three hits and four RBIs. Her homer lifted Lowndes (20-4, 7-0 Region 1-7A) to a 7-3 lead.
Rylin Hedgecock pitched a complete game, compiling 17 strikeouts and 20 first-pitch strikes for Lowndes. Lexi Metts and Tori Hedgecock each had two RBIs. Jacie Johns added two hits.
Johns and May each had hits to put Lowndes up 2-0 in the first inning. May and Tori Hedgecock each had RBIs during the frame.
Kelsea Collins’ hit gave the Wildcats a run in the top of the third. Amber Griffin doubled with two outs on the scoreboard and scored another run to tie it at 2. Rylin Hedgecock recorded her eighth strikeout to end Camden’s rally.
Rylin Hedgecock was walked in the third, moving Jaylen Johnson to second with Tanija Turner in to pinch run at first. Metts followed with a triple to score Johnson and Turner, allowing the Vikettes to pull ahead 4-2.
Alyssa Haggerty’s hit plated Lexi Foskey with one out in the top of the fourth, cutting it to 4-3. Foskey stole second during Allie Collins’ at-bat, but Rylin Hedgecock delivered her 10th strikeout to end the Wildcats’ threat.
Rylin Hedgecock led the Vikettes with two hits at the plate, while pitching four innings in a 9-1 win in Game 2. She allowed one run and struck out six with 11 first-pitch strikes.
Sophie Sumner finished with two RBIs for Lowndes, and Johns and Tori Hedgecock each added two.
Lowndes broke the 1-1 tie with a three-run third inning before scoring three more runs in the fourth for a 7-1 lead.
