Lowndes wrestling wins Viking Challenge

The Lowndes wrestling team won the inaugural Viking Challenge and JV Challenge on Saturday.
Lowndes’ varsity won with a 182 with first-place finishes from Brandon Gutierrez (220 pounds), Gareth Chaney (160), Jackson Lawson (152), Nathan Lawson (120) and Cole Chandler (113).
Dominic DiTomasso (106), Andrew Adams (132) and Devron Gardner (138) were second-place finishers.
Ethan Gilbert (113), Tanner Maine (126), Cameron Jackson (145), Peyton Gunn (195) and Tyler McKinnon (285) were third-place finishers.
Lee County placed second with a 162, Valdosta was third with a 152.5, Brunswick placed fourth with a 101, Berrien was fifth with a 60 and Thomas County Central sixth with a 50.
Lowndes’ JV won with a 152.5 with first-place finishes from Domnik Medina (113), Andrew Thigpen (132), Grayson Lewis (170) and Jordan Tabor (195).
Julian Garcia (195) placed second, while third-place finishers included Victoria Danielson (106), Conner Sherhouse (126) and Ty Parks (138).
Berrien’s JV placed second with a 132.5, Colquitt County was third with a 123 and Lee County finished fourth with an 87. Brunswick placed fifth with a 84, Valdosta was sixth with a 59 and Thomas County Central finished seventh with a 38.
