Pinevale observes 50th reunion

Lewis, Izeal Whitfield, Elijah (E.J.) Rayford, Oliver Bradley, Calvin Graham, James F. Council Jr., Matthew Williams, Willie C. Simon attended the Pinevale High School reunion.
VALDOSTA – Pinevale High Class of 1968 kicked off its 50th year reunion with a meet and greet earlier this year at the C.C. Hall Pinevale Complex.
Class members mingled and reminisced about experiences from South Street and Magnolia elementary schools, Lomax Junior High and Pinevale High School, organizers said. Class members observed portraits and memorabilia representing classes dating from 1956-57 through 1972.
Class members participated in a cookout at Grassy Pond. Class members, teachers and staff gathered at the Holiday Inn Conference Center for a banquet.
Linda Kay Stanley Berrian, mistress of ceremony, and Minister Willie C. Simon led people in song. Matthew Williams led prayer.
Speaker for the evening was Minister Oliver Bradley who looked back five decades reflecting on political, social and educational issues going on within each decade. His presentation was integrated with facts, humor and singing.
Vermille Calhoun Blake and Mary Mitchell Floyd presented a candlelight memorial tribute for deceased class members and faculty. Calvin Graham provided a summary of Pinevale history.
Additional program participants included the welcome by Betty Reid Howard, Lillie Peek Carnegie, songwriter and lyricist inspired class members with “In His Presence” and “The Lord’s Prayer.” Judy Newberry Dixon recognized teachers, administrative staff and the planning committee.
Class members congregated at Morning Star Baptist Church and were welcomed by Pastor Clay Morgan and class member Yvonia McGhee Best.
