Remerton police awarded traffic grant

REMERTON — The Remerton Police Department has been awarded a Highway Safety High Visibility Enforcement Grant totaling $6,250 from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety in Atlanta.

The grant, which will last through next September, is designed to help the Remerton Police Department reduce highway safety incidents such as crashes, injuries and fatalities throughout the jurisdiction and surrounding areas, according to city officials.

The Remerton Police Department intends to reduce speed-related crashes, as well as those crashes that are a result of distracted driving due to use of cell phones. Remerton Police Department also intends to address various roadway safety problems, such as occupant safety, speeding, etc.

The Remerton Police Department intends to reduce the impaired-driving and speed-related offenses in and around the City of Remerton. 

“It is our goal in doing this to assist in the reduction and prevention of speed, impaired and distracted-related crashes,” city officials said.
